This process of repeated layering over the parasite not only takes a long time but it is necessary in order to create the beautiful Pearl. Much like the clam, you have experienced "irritants" coming into your life and while you persevere, seeking knowledge and gaining understanding, you are adding protective layers of nacre to cover your irritants.
There are many types of pearl. The most beautiful and extremely rare is the "White South Sea Pearl". White South Sea Pearls have a very limited. They also take much longer to grow and are farmed in the volatile open ocean waters. Limited production, years to grow and production in volatile open ocean waters is what makes the White South Sea Pearl the most rare and luxurious of all cultured pearls.
